Opening Remarks – Maui Council Member Keani Rawlins-Fernandez
9:30 – 9:55 Networking Activity
Meet other the other members of the workshop, share your story and learn about the current issues motivating people to become more involved.

10:00 – 11:30 AM – 101 Advocacy – HAPA President Gary Hooser
Learn the tools needed for effective advocacy, hear success stories and get an inside look at how our government works.
11:30 – 12:15 PM – LUNCH
12:15 – 2:00 PM – Storytelling, Messaging & Messaging Activity – Dawn Morais Webster
Learn about the importance of storytelling in advocacy, how amplify your message and reach your audience. This section will include a messaging activity.
BREAK
2:15 – 3:15PM – Becoming a Leader – Intro to Leadership Opportunities, Working on Campaigns and Running for Office
Learn about the current political landscape in Hawaii and the opportunities for leadership in our community. Learn what it takes to work on campaigns or run for office yourself.

3:30-5:00 PM – Q & A with Local Lawmakers
Panel Q&A with local lawmakers on why they ran for office and what it took to be successful.
5:00-6:00 PM Pau Hana
