Hawaii says No to transgender Military Service Ban and YES to LGBTQIA Civil Rights Act Protection!

Background: July 26, 2017 will be known as the day that Trump Administration violated the basic human rights of LGBTQIA Americans.

In the morning, President Trump announced via Twitter a reversal in policy banning transgender men and women from serving in the U.S. military.

Then, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a brief arguing that LGBT individuals are not protected from discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, on the case of Zarda v..Altitude Express, before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, in New York.

Join Amnesty International Hawaii Chapter, 808 Rainbow Family, LGBT Democratic Caucus of the state of Hawaii, the Libertarian Party of Hawaii, Women’s March Oahu Chapter, Gay Island Guide, and other social justice community allies.

Together, we will stand strong in solidarity and action to protect and support the rights of over 11.000 U.S. transgender active duty service members and 1.500 on reserve U.S. transgender service members to continue to serve in the U.S. Military free from being discriminated based on their sexual orientation or individual identity.

Together, we can ensure that LGBTQIA people will continue to be protected from discrimination under the Civil Rights Act.
