WHO PITCHES?

Media makers with new projects that are deeply relevant to their community, and community leaders who are advancing social justice, equity and social good. Projects range from short and long-form doc and narrative films to multi-platform investigative journalism, gaming, podcasts and virtual reality.

Good Pitch Local Hawai’i is a pitching and networking program aimed at generating support for media projects that raise awareness and propose solutions for challenging problems facing our islands. The curated pitches are done by both media makers and community advocates at an invitation-only event that is a model of dynamic collaboration for social, economic, and environmental good. Created by Doc Society, Ford Foundation, and Sundance Institute, Good Pitch events have raised more than $30 million for film-based impact campaigns in 15 countries since 2007.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A call for pitch projects will go out in early June, with a submission deadline of July 31. Projects can range from short and long-form doc and narrative films to multi-platform investigative journalism, podcasts, gaming, and VR experiences. Up to 16 projects will be selected in early September and the teams trained to convey their ideas in short pitches to be followed by an expertly moderated discussion aimed at eliciting support from a carefully curated audience passionate about the issues and the work.
